Non-Toxic Homemade Cleaner
I’d rather just make my own cleaner than worry about reading labels and researching ingredients about cleaning products. I can’t even be certain the label is accurate or honest, if I indeed figure out what all the names of the ingredients actually mean. Labels are intentionally misleading.

I use to spend a ton of time on the EWG website to research cleaners for my home. It’s time consuming to research, but incredibly necessary. I grew up in a household where we used multiple cleaners. One or two cleaners wouldn’t do the trick – you needed a cleaner for your toilet, your sink, your tile, oven, and so on. I have learned that this is unnecessary! As I did my research, I discovered I could clean my entire house with about two cleaners. Today I’ll share my favorite one. It’s simple. I use this cleaner for my kitchen and my bathrooms.
Ingredients
1 cup of baking soda (I use Arm & Hammer)
3 tbsp of Adams Thick Hand Soap (I use the one with lavender and aloe)
(double or triple the recipe to have quite a bit of cleaner on hand!)

Note about Adams soap: I use to use Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. I switched to Adams Castile Soap because the price is soooo much better and the majority of the ingredients are organic. Also, it is a thick hand soap with aloe which I love.
Directions
Using a hand mixer, add the baking soda to a mixing bowl and gradually add in the Adams Handmade Soap. Depending on your climate you may need to add a little more or a little less soap, but simply mix it until it is the consistency of icing (and it will LOOK like icing….make sure everyone knows it is a cleaner!) I store mine in a 16 oz mason jar and I always double the recipe. You may have a bit left that doesn’t fit in the 16 oz. jar if you double it, so I simply clean something immediately, or simply pick a bigger jar 🙂 Shelf life is very long as far as I can tell. I’ve never had any of it around for longer than a few months because I’m always cleaning. I store it under my sink in the kitchen.
Notes: I sell this soft scrub at my farmstand. I have found that people love to buy it by the dozen to give to family and friends as gifts around the holidays! Also, if you are looking to find some staples for your farmstand that don’t require cooking/making weekly, this is a GREAT one. I love having products that are ready to fill the farmstand shelves!
