About Peggy….

Hi Everyone! I’m Peggy – so great to have you here! Like many of you, my journey to our homestead was built over many years in bits and pieces that finally landed us in this puzzle we call Mesa View Homestead. We bought our small homestead when our youngest was starting fifth grade and our oldest was eighteen! We spent many years in the city implementing many back to basics living experiences from gardening, backyard chickens, creating holistic mom groups and more. We finally outgrew our space in the suburbs, mentally and physically, as we dreamed of meat chickens, alpacas and the land to create what would become Mesa View Homestead. We left everything and started over on the western slope of Colorado and we’ve spent many years honing our skills and our own style of homesteading. With barely two acres, we’ve managed to create a life that allows us to raise a large portion of our food while being part of a homesteading community that brings us such joy. We’re very grateful.

For us, the simplicity of back to basics is the new adventure and one that we view with fresh eyes daily as we learn from our mistakes and refine our skills.

We have certain beliefs we live by:
If you can buy it, you can make it!
If you were taught to think a certain way, don’t assume it’s the only way.
Just because you can’t do it all doesn’t mean you can’t be a homesteader.
Our journey may be different from yours, but together we can build a self-sustaining community. Mindset is a game changer and a homesteader develops resilience and passion that will flow over into all aspects of life.

I’m not just a homesteader, I’m also a writer and shuffle dancer! And yes, you can absolutely homestead in the city!

Darrin is my husband and best friend for life! He has mad building skills and is a wealth of knowledge about herbs, gardening, shelter, and in addition is our in house chiropractor. He’s a bit of a wellness guru.

He is very passionate about raising our own meat and has led us down a fabulous path of raising our own beef and poultry. In addition, he’s continually experimenting with spice mixes, canning, tallow products and more.

So, whether you’re an experienced homesteader, someone who is interested in developing a homestead mindset, or an aspiring green thumb, we are happy you are here.

Welcome to Mesa View Homestead.
